Exam Preparation

OET Preparation

The English test built specifically for healthcare professionals — nurses, doctors, dentists, physiotherapists and more — using real workplace scenarios instead of generic topics.

How the OET exam is structured

Four sub-tests. Listening and Reading are common to all professions; Writing and Speaking are profession-specific.

Sub-testDurationWhat it covers
Speaking~20 minTwo role-plays with an interlocutor playing a patient, colleague or carer
Writing45 minOne profession-specific letter (e.g. a referral or discharge letter) based on a clinical scenario
Reading60 min3 parts — from quick scanning of short medical texts to close reading of longer professional articles
Listening~45 minConsultations, workplace dialogues and presentations from healthcare settings
Scoring: results are reported on a scale of 0–500 in 10-point increments, then converted to a letter grade from A (highest) to E (lowest) for each sub-test.
