How the IELTS exam is structured

Four sections, completed in one sitting, in about 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Scoring: each section is graded on a Band 1–9 scale. Your overall band score is the average of all four sections, rounded to the nearest 0.5 — there is no pass or fail.
